Reporting to the CTO, the Engineering Senior Director helps define the vision for technology in IPS, and carries it through the engineering organization. They are constantly developing their teams and growing capabilities, applying the best of what they learn as they develop modern solutions. This role works in close partnership with Product and other technology teams across the business, as well as strategic vendors and management, to deliver solutions that exceed customer expectations. A strong connection to customer needs is prevalent across the team, and the Engineering Director uses that motivation to deliver real value.


This role owns the “how” of day-to-day operations in IPS Engineering.


The Engineering Senior Director is responsible for:

  • Building and running a team with the skills and capabilities to deliver on business needs
  • Deliver on multiple simultaneous priorities excellently
  • Contributing to the IPS technology roadmap
  • Ensure compliance with security and other requirements
  • Maintain high standards within the team and in interactions across the organization


The ideal candidate for this role sees problems as an opportunity to build something great, whether people, process, or technology. They know how to lead a team through the ambiguity of transformation, managing vision and purpose, while developing people and sourcing new talent as needed. This person is well versed in modern development technologies and practices, but is wise enough to pick the right tool for the job. This leader is comfortable engaging the C-suite, but go to the work at any level, and roll up their sleeves without a second thought.


A great candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience managing a large pool of engineers operating in an agile way or as an Engineering Director or Engineering Manager in a technology organization
  • Proficiency managing technology organizations
  • Strategic, organized, goal oriented, and self-aware
  • Seven to ten years of industry experience gained through employment at fast paced, progressive organizations, reporting to C-level executives
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Broad and deep understanding of technologies and how those technologies interface. Some examples include:
    • Big data
    • ETL
    • Structured and unstructured databases, including DB2 and MySQL
    • Java, JavaScript
    • API and interface development
    • Cloud-based and hybrid cloud delivery and deployment
    • Business objects
    • Modern practices in system and application virtualization
  • Understanding of business applications in financial services and how to ask the right questions to get the best product
