At Northwestern Mutual, we believe relationships are built on trust. That our lives and our work matter. These beliefs launched our company nearly 160 years ago. Today, they're just a few of the reasons why people choose to build careers at Northwestern Mutual.

We're strong and growing. In a company with such a long and storied history, this may be the most exciting and important time to be a part of Northwestern Mutual. We're strong, innovative and growing.

We invest in our people. We provide opportunities for employees to grow themselves, their career and in turn, our business.

We care.  We make a positive difference in our communities. Nationally, thousands have benefitted from our support of research and programs to fight childhood cancer. Each year, our Foundation, employees and financial representatives donate time, talent and financial support to causes they're passionate about.

We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age or status as a protected veteran, or any other characteristic protected by law.

What's the role?

At Northwestern Mutual, we help people make the most of their lives through financial planning. We are building a full-service in-house agency and seeking top talent with agency experience in New York City.

Our video producer will work with the creative teams and other stakeholders to produce an array of video projects and photoshoots. We will be creating that includes short-form social assets, scripted longer-form videos, animations, PR videos and sizzle reels, interviews, and audio pieces for radio (so, basically everything). Some projects will be produced completely in-house and others will be in collaboration with agencies or production companies based on the size and scale of the project.

We’re looking for someone who loves producing video.

  • Someone who’s dedicated to making great videos and is really resourceful
  • Be able to keep projects on track by setting clear expectations through task lists, issue tracking, status reports, and meeting notes
  • Clearly communicate and escalate any issues and proposed resolutions to the Senior Producer
  • Lead efficient meetings and conference calls with the ability to effectively set up the presentation of creative work
  • Passion for delivering the best creative, but find ways of producing it that does not jeopardize schedule and budget

Our ideal candidate:

  • Has 5-8 years of digital agency experience, producing video
  • Has experience managing marketing, creative, or technology projects
  • Has experience developing Statements of Work
  • Has experience managing clients (external or internal) on project scope and delivery
  • Has excellent communication skills, including presentation development and business writing

  • Has a collaborative work ethic and easy going nature
  • Has strong problem-solving skills and is responsive and flexible to evolving responsibilities and changing environments
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent is required, PMI certification a plus.
  • Has a sense of humor

Some cool things to know about working with us:

Great location: We’re in the heart of the village, nudged right in between the West and the East, bookended by Union Square and Washington Square. So no gnarly mid-town. Just brick buildings, trees, movie stars, interesting dogs, healthy food, and pretty much every subway line in the city.

Normal hours: We’re not beholden to the vagaries of clients (we are the clients), so you’re not working through Memorial Day, Labor Day, Turkey Day, MLK Day, Saturday and every other day that most people get to take off and enjoy. And for the most part, we’re done by 6.

Highest quality work: We set the bar high since we’re alumni of some of the best agencies in NYC. We only create work that we are proud of. Not all of the work will go in your book, but plenty of it will. The goal is to create award-winning work that rivals any agency.

Variety of projects: Not only will you have the opportunity to work on all sorts of projects, you’ll get to see them through to completion.

Snacks galore (and beers): ‘Nuff said (except that the snacks are really thoughtfully-curated and healthy).

Office dogs: 100%. Three fun-filled days a week.
