What's the Role?


We’re looking for an Digital Marketing Operations Manager to join the team that’s developing and driving the digital acquisition marketing strategy for Northwestern Mutual.

You’ll collaborate with a diverse set of functions, including creative, technology, and analytics, as you oversee our campaigns across all digital media channels, from pre-launch preparations to performance analysis.

The ideal candidate is familiar with digital marketing platforms, and passionate about iterating and improving through a test-and-learn mentality. Your responsibilities will require a strong analytical aptitude, attention to detail, and a creative approach to problem solving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Media & Creative:
    • Assist in day-to-day agency relationship management to ensure alignment on strategy, and quality in execution of media trafficking and optimizations.
    • Partner with internal technology, product, analytics, creative, and legal teams as well as external agencies to manage projects & campaigns by identifying tasks, timelines, and risks.
    • Consult during the creative development process; conducting visual design reviews, tracking and issuing approvals, and recommending new concepts or test
  • Campaign Execution
    • Own the campaign deployment process; submitting creative through compliance, compiling and transferring assets, managing ad trafficking, implementing tracking, and conducting final quality assurance checks before launch.
    • Oversee the implementation of (UTM) tracking structures both by agency partners as well as across the marketing organization internally, in support of accurate, full-funnel reporting and analysis
  • Analytics & Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain internal digital media performance reporting at platform, channel, and program levels to monitor key performance indicators, generate business intelligence, and enable data-driven decision making.
    • Leverage marketing technology, data, and reporting platforms like Adobe Analytics, Power BI, Tableau, DCM, and Optimizely to produce both regular reporting and ad hoc analyses to identify causal drivers of performance.
    • Collaborate with internal analytics partners to track projects and priorities, recommend areas for analysis, and develop hypotheses.

  • 1-2 years of digital marketing or digital ad operations experience
  • Exacting standards for accuracy and attention to detail, particularly regarding the quality and accuracy of data and reporting
  • Strong relationship building skills, and experience working collaboratively and cross-functionally
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to identify operational opportunities, refine processes, and produce efficiencies
  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting platforms like Adobe Analytics or similar; training will be available on all internal-use platforms
  • Experience performing detailed analyses in Excel or similar and a high degree of data literacy
  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks or projects
