Technical Program Manager - Field Experience

Northwestern Mutual Connect (NMC) is the digital platform that empowers more efficient and effective sales and servicing for our FRs. As a Field Experience Technical Program Manager (TPM) you will own projects and programs end-to-end from charter, roadmap, plan, design, build, execute, to delivery and performance monitoring and adoption. Projects and programs will span infrastructure, process, and software to address our financial advisor’s challenges. You will work across business, product and software development teams to balance cost, schedule and technical variables to deliver projects that improve operational efficiency that delight the field. You will manage multiple, high-impact projects spanning several technology areas.


A successful TPM candidate will:

  • Need a strong technical background and be detail/date driven with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Understand technical implementation and propose technical alternatives when essential.
  • Help manage strategic and budget planning. Lead conversations with key stakeholders to develop concepts into program/project plans (roadmaps, funding, resourcing, hiring/headcount goals).
  • Be self-motivated and always curious with an appetite to gain new learnings.
  • Always strive for continuous process improvement, challenge the status quo, and seek to understand how inputs drive outputs.
  • Move fast and be willing to learn from mistakes.
  • Have a solid understanding of project management fundamentals (business case, risk management, schedule, and negotiation/prioritization).
  • Be comfortable with senior executives and can communicate effectively with business and technical teams. 



Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, engineering, science, or equivalent field that demonstrates quantitative/analytical orientation

4+ years of experience in program management, product management, software engineering or related areas

Capable of independently solving business problems and motivated to drive process optimization and improved efficiency

Action-oriented with strong ability to drive projects to closure and get things done

Effective oral, presentation, and written communication skills

Proven capability to and experience engaging both business and technical teams

Change management experience

Experienced and knowledgeable in agile project management and development methodologies
