The Technical Analyst plays a critical role, enabling Technology to delivering value for our business. They partner with the Business to understand their goals and translate those into actionable requirements. The Technical Analyst will also collaborate with Product Management, the PMO, and many others across NM, while working to ensure alignment between business needs, technical solutions, and overall strategy. The Technical Analyst will use tools such as process flows, UML, architectural diagrams, and journey maps to ensure development readiness, and be a key driver of the team’s velocity.

 

The Technical Analyst is responsible for:

  • Current State Technical Analysis
  • System Requirements / User Story Definition, both functional & non-functional
  • Detailed Design and Solution Option Analysis
  • Troubleshooting escalated incidents, problems, root cause analysis
  • Creating quality code
  • Looking at old things in new ways
  • Learning and developing skills
  • Increasing technical proficiency  
  • Working on and solving complex problems
  • Improving the organization

They are highly technical—having hands on experience with programming, configuration, and architecture—they aren’t afraid to jump in to some develop when needed. The successful candidate is collaborative by nature, working well with a wide variety of peers, and handling the tension that comes with competing priorities with calm and ration. They are driven to constantly make things better, in their own work and across the organization.

 

A great candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on, professional experience building distributed systems in a multi-language environment
  • Base knowledge in object-oriented development, preferably with Java, data structures, Spring, RESTful web service, SQL
  • Experience working with teams that build high-volume, high-availability systems
  • Knowledgeable of current software engineering trends, best practices and standards
  • Experience with functional and non-functional requirements gathering, feature and user story definition from a technical perspective
  • Experience in solution option and detailed design definition
  • Experience in DevOps methodology and development, including CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Test Automation
  • Experience and knowledge of QA practices such as BDD (Business Driven Development) and TDD (Test Driven Development)
  • Experience in Test execution in various forms: functional, non-functional, regression, acceptance, integration
  • Experience with Github or Gitlab for source code management
  • Experience with Unix environment (shell, scripting)
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting skills; analytical capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills
