As the Sr. Product Director for NM Connect you will be leading a team of talented product managers, designers and developers to build the best financial advisor platform in the world.  NM Connect is Northwestern Mutual’s comprehensive workstation that advisors use to do all of their financial planning, insurance illustrations, investment proposals and general servicing for their clients.  We have a vision to build a single integrated platform for advisors and you will be at the helm on executing that vision - meeting with stakeholders, sequencing the integration of existing apps and the ideation of building new apps and features for the platform.


What's the role?

1) Support agile / lean culture and self-organizing teams that develop solutions.  The focus of this leadership position is on delivering value, developing teams and leading change.
2) Clarify objectives and remove obstacles and barriers that prevent the team from achieving results.
3) Monitor team performance and results through quantitative and qualitative measures of value, outcome, velocity, engagement, and satisfaction.
4)  Develop and grow the team through training, mentoring, and coaching while also supplementing staff in that role as needed.
5)  Develop, implement, and promote agile / lean best practice standards including the use of tools where appropriate.
6)  Creates the future for self and team

  • Strong strategic aptitude; ability to define and support product strategy and road map
  • Excellent customer experience intuition; demonstrated success in inventing creative and user-friendly products.
  • Track record of success in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated results, including delivery of a major product from start to finish.
  • Experience using hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop project business cases.
  • 10-12 years of experience in product management or project management in complex/matrix environments.
  • 7 + years total experience B2C Digital Products, software or internet technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • Experience with and embraces Lean-Agile principles/DevOps environment.
