Sr. Data Technology Architect

About the Job:

  • Evaluate, critique and provide input to data/analytics tools and technology strategy.
  • Collaborate with technology teams to understand structural requirements and define standards for how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across the organization.
  • Advise on tool usage, architecture options, risks, costs, system impacts, and technology priorities.
  • Provides deep data design expertise across structured and semi-structured approaches using varying techniques or methodologies.
  • Responsible for working closely with technology partners to continuously evaluate, evolve, and drive the investment in the overall strategic capabilities, architecture, infrastructure, tools and roadmap for enabling a strong data organization.
  • Leads and drives data architecture engagements in alignment with general enterprise architecture strategy and standards.
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and coaching to less experienced professionals.

 

Primary Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 10+ years of IT experience including data modeling, architecture design, development, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning.
  • Expert level knowledge and understanding of data topics - architecture, database design, lineage etc.
  • Strong background in data centric application and framework design and deployment.
  • Extensive experience with multiple data storage methods; RDMS, NoSQL, Document, Graph etc.
  • Hands on experience with the AWS platform specifically but cloud in general.
  • Past experience delivering data policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.
  • Demonstrated creative and innovative approach to problem solving and solution formulation.
  • Exhibit traits of a strong technical leader; strong communication, curious, results driven, data centric, consensus building, ability to gain trust from partners, reacts to change, willing to dissent etc.
  • Ability and desire to mentor other team members through projects independently from start to finish
  •  

Desired Skills:

  • Prior knowledge of insurance systems, concepts and business vocabulary.
  • Background in the open source community and toolsets.
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
  • Previous experience in real-time event driven designs with a focus on Kafka, NiFi and other streaming tools.
  • Knowledge of Cassandra and Solr is an advantage.
