As the Senior Director of Directory Services of Cloud, SSOF, Pxm at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance will perform all chief of staff functions for the IAM division, providing advice, perspective and consultation to the Vice President - IAM and all IAM leadership. Provides leadership and direction through directors and managers and is accountable for the performance and results of related disciplines. Engages IAM leadership in setting strategic direction for IAM to support the IT and NM Strategy. Assumes accountability for all “IAM as business client” functions and coordinates accountabilities within IT. Engages staff, leadership and business partners in organizational change to mature and sustain information risk for the enterprise.
Leverages relationships to act as a liaison between IAM and business units for the strategy, development and implementation of best risk management approaches and practices in business context. Anticipates complex business issues that impact IAM, IT and the effectiveness of enterprise identity and access management. Deploys complex IAM resources in support of IT department and business area needs. Evaluates and prioritizes risk in new and existing systems from both a business and a technology perspective; recommends and exercises mature judgment that balances effectiveness and appropriateness of risk controls with business impact and needs. Demonstrates organizational agility and political savvy to effectively influence enterprise buy-in to address risk areas often avoided. Oversees and directs the design of information risk communication and leverages deep understanding of NM culture and risk tolerance to influence positive change across the enterprise (moving toward a more information risk-aware culture).
Responsible for selection and prioritization of IAM projects (corporate and IT), oversight of IAM budget management and long range planning. Collaborates with IT leadership and NM business leaders in order to minimize current risks, develop action plans and prioritize resources. Recognized across IT and NM as an expert in industry best identity and access management practices; uses judgment to appropriately apply them to Northwestern Mutual risk management.
Responsible for identity and access management strategy and program development. Approves identity and access management designs, plans, controls, processes, standards, policies and procedures in order to ensure alignment with IS standards, overall IS strategies and protecting the security of enterprise IT environment in support of the Company strategies.
Secretary to Information Risk Executive Council (VP-level committee) providing corporate oversight of enterprise identity and access management.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information systems or equivalent work experience in the IT field, with at least a portion of that time in a Security related position
- Minimum of ten total year’s relevant experience to include a minimum of two or more years of experience in information systems or systems audit plus a minimum of five years' experience in planning, organizing and managing the activities of others as direct reports and/or project teams.
- Certification in security space desired (CISSP, CCSP, etc)
