IT Security Director

The IT Security Director is responsible for ensuring that all activities which occur in the department are done securely and in compliance with internal policies and in line with regulatory requirements.  Liaising with corporate security, the IT Security Director builds and monitors appropriate controls, Security training, and reviews which ensure security while enabling agile and effective work to occur across NM technology. 



R1:  Contribute to the business and technology strategy 

  • Ensure that all technology decisions are made in a transparent, systematic way, which is secure and compliant with relevant internal and external policies and regulations
  • Understand upcoming threats and ensure appropriate controls are in place
  • Work and influence security organization in the identification of threats and establishment of appropriate policies and controls.

R2:  Evolve technology to meet and exceed needs securely

  • Ensure and oversee secure engineering machines and standards (liaise with security)
  • Develop security and threat assessment and reporting
  • Perform security audits

R3:  Deliver technology services securely according to business needs

  • Establish and enforce operational standards, which consider risk and security
  • Build and execute processes to maintain security-related information inventories
  • Provide Security and risk metrics and reports

R4: Participate in high performing team and contribute to the technology community

  • Establish a push-pull relationship with security organizations and understand Security market forces
  • Creatively establish (Right-size) and enforce security controls and standards (e.g. do not take orders)
  • Influence and improve company-wide security and risk teams

R5:  Manage Technology’s security and risk

  • Maintain a synthesis of the state of risk and security across Technology and deal with top issues
  • Manage security, deal with issues, internal and external threats
  • Dive deep to explain, teach and enforce Security standards and good practices across the team
  • Build and execute security audit/review machine for the department

  • Deep knowledge of technology security and risk space
  • Strong machine and process thinking
  • Good synthesis: understand the forest for the trees
  • Ability to manage through influence
  • Expert engineering and operational methodologies and ability to customize them to the NM environment
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and change


Technical skills

  • Broad and deep technology skills
  • Understanding of industry trends
  • Deep understanding of relevant industry technology controls
  • Knowledge of regulations in FS industry
  • Financial Services experience in security
  • Software Development experience
