What's the role?

Field Accounting Information Strategy consultant possesses a high level of expertise in the areas of  accounting systems (JDE), cash based accounting policies and procedures, and data analytical techniques. Applies high level expertise to understand the flow of information from upstream systems to accounting system, and from the accounting system to the downstream datamart. Uses this knowledge to independently influence the efficiency and effectiveness of financial data quality and various financial metric reporting. Works with IT and the business to define the accounting and the system process requirements and monitor the design of those new processes. Influences business cases as required to gain funding for process improvements and independently evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of the potential solutions prior to implementation.

Independently provides internal customer service, guidance and training for a wide range of accounting support issues and independently resolves the most complex problems and non-routine issues. Provides consultative expertise and guidance to clients in all areas pertaining to accounting systems and functions; interacts with field accountants, CFOs, Managing Directors, and occasionally with Managing Partners. Independently leads special projects within the Field Accounting team, including project formation, execution and outcome realization. Drives operational and service improvements within the Field Accounting team, continually improving operational processes to gain efficiency and higher service.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, or equivalent work experience required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the areas of accounting, audit, and/or financial analysis required or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification in lieu of work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and basic knowledge of small business tax requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning project, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of good internal control practices and audit principles.
  • Strong expertise in the design and implementing of relational database analytical techniques.
  • Superior interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to build rapport and gain acceptance at all levels within the Home Office and in the Field.
  • Team player whose motivations are focused on improving the performance of the team and overall organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to analyze business problems and make decisions.
  • Proven ability to manage concurrent assignments, with a high degree of personal initiative and motivation.
  • Knowledge of field operations and understanding of agency contracts preferred.
  • Deep proficiency with software applications, e.g., Access, Word, Excel.
  • Preferred:  Experience supporting and using Tier 1 or 2 Accounting Information Systems.
