Centralized Supervision Sr Specialist- Life Insurance

What's the Role?

As a Centralized Supervision team member, you will become an integral partner between Home Office, Field Advisors and Field Leadership in the build out and implementation of the NY Best Interest Life Insurance review process. In partnership with the Assistant Director, you will be responsible for supporting the creation and influence of workflows, training, and communication of the supervision review of life insurance applications.

You will also perform transactional reviews, while providing direct feedback and education on Northwestern Mutual policies and procedures. You will be responsible for diverse tasks during your day to day work; reviewing a NY insurance application, an advisor’s written correspondence or personal planning analysis tool (PPA), approving a new investment account, and/or reviewing transaction flags through our monitoring system (SMART). 

At the core of this role, you will add value by helping our business partners grow their business the right way by performing reviews and support in alignment with regulatory requirements and firm policies. You will also be responsible for providing feedback and consultation on trends to Field Leadership and internal team members. Additionally, at the direction of the subject matter expert, execute on miscellaneous projects required to improve overall effectiveness of the system, process, and overall program.

  • Bachelor’s degree, with emphasis on business or other related area preferred
  • 4-6 years professional experience, ideally in insurance industry or underwriting operations
  • Project management experience
  • FINRA Series 7 & 24 required within 6-12 months
  • Strong communication skills used to help demonstrate the value propositions of the centralized supervision program.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver business results by combining your skills and capabilities in a dynamic business environment
  • Forward thinker with an ability to anticipate problems and propose recommendations on how to solve for them
  • Able to simplify complex ideas and flex your style to effectively communicate amongst many audiences and employees.
  • A self‐directed learner who demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to identify efficiencies in a process, create workflows with standardization.
  • Move quickly with enough due diligence to work with and through limited information
  • Know how to gather and use data in problem-solving and able to communicate understanding to achieve effective decision making and efficiencies in a process
  • Learn, take risks, and be open to feedback as part of personal learning and development
  • Proven ability to build rapport and exercise tact, diplomacy and understanding of internal and external customers
