Location: Milwaukee, WI, 53202

At Northwestern Mutual, we are strong, innovative and growing. We invest in our people. We care and make a positive difference.

What's the role?

To support our growing team, we are looking for an engineer to work with our Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery team. You’re the right fit if you’re the best and there’s not a problem you can’t solve and ultimately love to automate. We need an experienced engineer who has a strong background around SCM, CI, and CD. We’re looking for self-motivated and self-driven engineers who are passionate about what they do and love technology.

You will be working on the DevOps/CICD team building automation for delivery pipelines for applications in a largely containerized/public cloud environment and legacy systems as well. These systems support the future development of the client and planner experiences for Northwestern Mutual.  The team is located in Milwaukee and New York but has the opportunity to travel across campuses.

  • Strong knowledge of continuous integration and continuous deployment practices
  • Fast learner and self-starter. The people you will work with are incredibly kind and extremely willing to share knowledge and a helping hand, but you have to be willing to take ownership of the outlined goals and make things happen.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision, yet actively interact with other team members.
  • Work collaboratively with application developers on CICD capabilities. The CICD team not only strives to build out the best capabilities that they can but also to help teams leverage that tooling.
  • Bring new ideas and new ways of solving problems to the team.

  • Proficient in at least one programming language (Java, Javascript, Python, GO, Groovy)
  • Public Cloud Experience (AWS/Azure). Certifications preferred but not required.
  • Containerization with Docker and Container Orchestration with Kubernetes/Swarm
  • Source Control Management – Git
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Use of a CI tool (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Travis, CircleCI)
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure Automation (Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef)
