Manager of Network Engineering - Field Network

What's the role?

This role will be responsible for leading a group of Field focused network engineers as well as overseeing a support team responsible for the day to day support and operations of the Field network. This role will have a focus on the continued improvement of the network service as well as the staffing and development of resources. This role is also responsible for managing relationships among enterprise peers, organizational teams and vendors to achieve company strategies.

1) Support agile / lean culture and self-organizing teams that develop solutions.  The focus of this leadership position is on delivering value, developing teams and leading change.

2) Clarify objectives and remove obstacles and barriers that prevent the team from achieving results.

3) Monitor team performance and results through quantitative and qualitative measures of value, outcome, velocity, engagement, and satisfaction.

4)  Develop and grow the team through training, mentoring, and coaching while also supplementing staff in that role as needed.

5)  Develop, implement, and promote agile / lean best practice standards including the use of tools where appropriate.

6)  Creates the future for self and team

 

Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

  • Experience in the Network field preferred, specifically with managing a large multi-location topology
  • Strong customer relationship skills and ability to handle customer escalations.
  • Ability to handle escalations from our Field force 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience planning, organizing and managing activities of others as direct reports or project teams.
  • Experience managing technical resources (network preferred)
  • Experience with engineering best practices to include analyzing, designing, developing and supporting software solutions and/or infrastructure implementations/upgrades
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong sense of ownership and the ability to work with a limited set of requirements
  • Ability to explain technical solutions to technical teams and non-technical teams
  • Flexibility, ability to manage multiple priorities and ability to handle ambiguity
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
