Accountabilities:

  • Apply engineering best practices in-order-to analyze, design and develop deploy and support software solutions, and/or infrastructure implementations/upgrades to delight the end user.
  • Develop software and systems on test driven development and continuous integration practices; establish monitoring and automation processes.
  • Consult on right-sizing decisions, software solutions and services.
  • Writes code that establishes and enhances coding specifications for programs and systems with little or no precedent.  May develop technical "vision", design specifications of assign products and may lead implementation. Participates in developing technical and business approaches with new tools.
  • Has proven expertise in software design, architecture and software and system interrelationships.  Has expert knowledge of programming languages key to the organization and demonstrates independent judgement.
  • Able to move between diverse tasks and roles with cooperation and persistence, helping to bring out the best in those around you for your user’s experience.
  • Provide day-to-day mentoring and coaching to less experienced professionals.

Requirements:

**Broad knowledge of current and emerging technology trends and direction.

  • Very strong and hands-on skills in PL/1, CICS, DB2, JCL IMS DB, VSAM, COBOL, ANSI SQL, MQ series, Host Scope.
  • Life and Annuity Insurance experience.
  • Prefer relevant experience with PL1 to help research and analyze existing mainframe system.
  • Strong communication (oral and written).
  • Able to articulate technical and business concepts effectively.
  • Take initiative and work with minimal supervision, yet actively interact with other team members in person or over the internet (slack, videoconference, email).
  • Able to bring new ideas and ways of solving problems to the team.
  • Passion around learning new technologies and developing additional skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills and able to work in teams to drive results.
  • Passionate about writing quality code that meets business needs.
  • Fast learner and self-starter.
  • Takes ownership of goals and make things happen.
  • Experience with engineering best practices to include analyzing, designing, developing, deploying and supporting software solutions, and/or infrastructure implementations/upgrades.
  • 6-8 years engineering experience or equivalent coursework and business knowledge in the area
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience with and embraces Lean-Agile principles/DevOps environment
  • Technical requirements/platforms will vary according to the role and must exhibits technical curiosity
  • Strong sense of ownership and the ability to work with a limited set of requirements
  • Ability to explain technical solutions to technical and non-technical team

 

Preferred:

  • LOMA Certifications
  • Agile Experience
