We are looking for a product owner to lead a scrum delivery team in the unified communications domain, responsible for design and delivery of the contact center strategy. The contact center systems and services used by Northwestern Mutual’s workforce to service and support customers and our Field across Milwaukee, New York, and the Arizona campuses. It consists of several different business capabilities, technologies, and vendor solutions.

 

This is a key role that ensures features are defined, prioritized and delivered in a timely manner. This role must focus simultaneously on the highest priorities of business stakeholders, while aligning to customer needs.  The role requires both strong customer facing communication skills, as well as day to day organization skills, to drive the work of our engineering teams with competing business priorities.

 

What's the role?

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of business needs and opportunities addressed by the product
  • Foster data-driven decision-making by researching, acquiring and leveraging data on user needs, behaviors and experiences
  • Write product use cases and user stories and communicate them clearly to stakeholders
  • Prioritize and maintain the team backlog of work
  • Work cross-functionally with other product owners, product managers, engineering managers, designers and engineers to define requirements for current sprints
  • Provide input to product vision, strategy and roadmaps through collaboration with the domain product manager and engineering manager

  • Experience with software engineering and/or technical business analysis preferred
  • Experience working with telephony /VOIP/ infrastructure projects preferred
  • Experience with collaboration tools including call centers, telephony, or IT administration tools preferred
  • Experience in evaluating, sizing and planning technical features to be delivered
  • Personal accountability, curiosity, passion for high quality, continuous learning, and innovative thinking
  • Knowledge and strong instincts about what makes a great product from the user’s perspective
  • Focused on the customer / client
  • Strong decision-making ability
  • Comfort with ambiguity; resourceful finding solutions
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of the full product life cycle of a software product and vendor solutions
  • Collaborative teamwork – within own team and cross-functionally
  • 4 – 6 years Product Management experience preferred

  • Course work in related field required, Bachelor’s or advanced degrees preferred
  • Technical experience using tools to manage an engineering scrum backlog
  • Experience in the completion of a product release
  • Demonstrated ability to drive feature delivery to completion
  • Experience with Lean-Agile principles and working within a DevOps environment
  • Certification or experience with Scrum Master role preferred
