Senior Software Engineer-Monitoring

The Systems Software Engineer fulfills a key role on the centralized monitoring and event response team. Primary responsibilities include monitoring across diverse technology environments, responding to critical incidents and alerts, and advancing capabilities through AI and automation working with cross functional infrastructure and application teams. The position is accountable for establishing proactive monitoring and automation processes to increase efficiencies. The role utilizes engineering best practices and an understanding of business needs to improve infrastructure and systems software solutions and services that reduce ongoing maintenance costs and improve scalability and reliability. The team is responsible for engaging in complex problem solving across multiple technologies to deliver reliable services internal and external customers. Qualified candidates serve as an escalation point in order to deliver reliable systems by complying with ITIL Service Management methodologies for incident, problem, change, release and knowledge management. Additional responsibilities include delivering leadership by motivating team members and influencing them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

Required Skills:

  • Event response experience in complex infrastructure and application environments
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Elk, Splunk, OVO, Netuitive or New Relic
  • Knowledge and application of Service Management practices
  • Strong technical, written, analytical and verbal communication skills
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting on premise infrastructure and applications
  • Skilled working with cloud-based applications using AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and services (PaaS, IaaS, Saas)
  • Sound logical thinking, strong analytical reasoning and solid troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to drive for improvement opportunities such as early detection and faster recovery
  • Provide 24x7x365 coverage within a mix of onshore and offshore operations administrators
  • 4-8 years of experience developing and/or supporting tech environments

  • Ability to set priorities for scope, risk and quality of technology solutions to meet business needs
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and solutions across all levels of the organization
