Job Title: Senior Engineer

Job Description: The Senior Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, Wisconsin will work to understand the infrastructure monitoring needs of the business by facilitating relationships between business clients and technical resources. Focus on monitoring infrastructure, business services and processes by identifying options, working to gain consensus on approach, developing requirements and related business rules, and working closely with business units and technology subject matter experts to implement solutions for solving complete business challenges. This role will explain technical solutions and non-technical solutions to teams to drive business outcomes and establish consensus. Use best practices, industry trends and knowledge of internal and external business issues to improve the value of our organization's monitoring and services/knowledge. Identify, define and develop solutions to gaps, enhancements, and opportunities with in-depth analysis, constructive thinking, and data to measure progress. Anticipate obstacles, challenges status quo, and identify new approaches. Interpret client needs, assess requirements, and identify innovative solutions that can effectively address their issues and expectations in a timely manner. Work with cross functional teams or server as a resource on cross-departmental initiatives. Utilize knowledge of tools/languages, such as Github, Anisible, REST API, enterprise infrastructure and SDLC, and programming languages (Python, C, Java, Shell, Groovy, Json, Node, Yaml, etc.) to facilitate and perform Network Monitoring for business clients. Develop infrastructure monitoring tools to solve complex business challenges for customers. Develop infrastructure monitoring software, including synthetic monitoring tools such as the bsm (business service monitoring) and catchpoint platforms, as well as log analytics tools including splunk and elk. Utilize software tools, including github, gitlab, nexus, jenkins, jira, agilecraft to help manage work and deploy code. Tool methodologies, such as agile, scrum, kanban, are used to better collaborate and streamline work. 


Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a directly related field, plus five years of engineering experience monitoring tools administration. Must also have three years of experience in each of the following: (1) Application Performance Monitoring tools, including CA APM, Dynatrace, and AppDynamics; (2) Synthetic Monitoring tools, including BSM and Catchpoint; (3) Ansible; (4) programming languages, including Python, C, Java, Shell, and Groovy; (5) working in Agile Methodology, including SCRUM and SAFe; and (6) Predictive Analytics tools, including Netuitive.
