Senior Engineer

Must Have skills:

  • Very strong and hands-on skills in PL1, CICS, DB2, JCL IMS DB, VSAM, COBOL, JCL, ANSI SQL, MQ series, HostScope
  • Extremely good communication (oral and written)
  • Able to articulate technical and business concepts effectively
  • The ability to ask appropriate questions to identify the general functions and behaviors of the applications you’re working on
  • Take initiative and work with minimal supervision, yet actively interact with other team members in person or over the internet (slack, videoconference, email).
  • Able to bring new ideas and ways of solving problems to the team.
  • Passion around learning new technologies and developing additional skills.
  • Great team player and problem-solver.
  • Passionate about writing quality code that meets business needs.
  • Fast learner and self-starter.
  • Takes ownership of goals and make things happen.

 

Preferred skills:

  • Insurance experience
  • Prefer relevant experience with PL1 to help reverse engineer a mainframe Inforce Policy system and assist with the delivery of a new platform.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Design, develop and test program units;
  • Work on enhancement/maintenance of existing systems and help us plan for how to take these capabilities into a modern architecture
  • Participate in implementations of new systems or modifications to existing systems to meet Information Systems and client business requirements.
  • Prepare and updates documentation as appropriate.
  • Writing and debugging online and batch applications
  • Work collaboratively on creative solutions with product owners and developers.

 

What would make you stand out:

  • LOMA-280 certification is added advantage.
  • Agile experience (SAFe or scrum)
  • Familiarity with SAS
