What's the role?

As Long-term Care Analyst, reporting to the manager of the Disability Benefits Division, you will: administer a caseload consisting of both newly-requested and active Long-term care claims, investigating and analyzing to evaluate eligibility for benefit payments, making claim decisions (based on pertinent financial, medical, legal, and claim information) that are consistent with established policies and guidelines. Additionally, as part of the claim handling process, you may be called upon to represent the company in legal matters through preparation for and participation in depositions and trials. This role calls for superior written/verbal skills to facilitate effective communication with policy owners, family members, attorneys, financial reps, medical practitioners, care facilities, other insurance companies, employers, governmental agencies, and divisional resources, and others. Attention to detail is essential for documenting case information and referrals.
Hours:  8:30 am - 5:00 pm



Bring Your Best! What this role needs:

  • Requires advanced specialized knowledge equivalent to an Associate Degree in applied science or business or two years of advanced college courses in communications, insurance or psychology.
  • Requires 2 to 2 1/2 years of work experience in the area of disability, health care or long-term care and relevant work experience demonstrating analytical ability, independent decision-making and sound judgement in the application of guidelines.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, as well as experience with insurance contract and field servicing required.
  • Communication experience involving negotiation and conflict resolution with a wide variety of customers to include attorneys, insurances and/or family members, and POAs requried.
  • Superior skills in communicating, applying judgement and analyzing complex information.
  • High degree of self-motivation with proven initiative in accepting responsibility for work results and in contributing cooperatively to group goals.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to independently set priorities and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
